Walden Pell II at Pell Gardens in Chesapeake City, Maryland which was dedicated in 1982 to honor Walden and Edith for their efforts in the restoration work on behalf of Chesapeake City in the 1970s.
A plaque at the Gardens is inscribed as follows:
"Pell Gardens was dedicated in October of 1982 to honor Dr. Walden Pell who with his wife Edith were instrumental in the early restoration of town buildings and establishing the Civic Association, both in the 1970s. Dr. Pell was headmaster of St. Andrew's School in Middletown, DE from 1930 to 1957 before becoming parish priest at St. Augustine Parish, Chesapeake City, Maryland from 1963 to 1968. He previously served congregations in Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.
"The park was designed by John Paul and his wife Veronica Lucas who also designed the Korean War Memorial in the National Mall in Washington.
"In 2009 Pell Gardens was renovated and rededicated to the people of Chesapeake City. Thank you to the residents and other volunteers who put many hours into preserving our park."
